Weekend Update

Well, sadly the weekend flew by and I am back at work and it's lunchtime.

I thought I'd update on a few things.

First, we did get our camera. We went with a Nikon D60 and we really like it so far. It came with 2 "how to" dvds, a nice camera bag, free Ritz/Wolf camera classes, and a free (mail in rebate) hp printer/scanner/fax machine. So, we feel like we did okay. I took it to Jeremy's basketball game to practice yesterday but I don't have the pictures with me today.

Saturday I DID NOT get to sleep in. I had been sick last week and woke up around 7 not able to breathe. I would freak out and then sit up in bed. Sitting up made me feel a little better so I got up and went in the living room so I wouldn't wake Jeremy. I didn't go back to sleep nor did I take a nap. What was I thinking?

That day we ran the usual errands and then while Jeremy played poker with the guys us girls hung out at Jenn's house. We played a fun game! It's called the Settlers of Catan. I thought I'd hate it. It was complicated and required luck and strategy but it is one of THE MOST fun games I've ever played! Us girls even outlasted the guys poker game and played until around 1am!

Sunday was, of course, church, lunch and then we went home for a little bit and then on to Jeremy's basketball game. They lost and the other team was such hot dogs and had such a horrible attitude! I hate for them to lose to teams like that! Ugh.

Anyways, later that night we went to Ryan and Jess' house to play MORE Settlers. It's bad, I think we'll be playing that A LOT as we're now addicted. So, if you need a new game to play go out and get it!!!!! :)

Our weekend didn't turn out to be as relaxing and restful as I'd hoped but we did have tons of fun!

Just catchin' up...

Well, the week is finally coming to a close!

This is our first free weekend since May. I haven't slept in on a Saturday since sometime in May. I am very excited! We have lots of little things to do this weekend, but all fun things and nothing stressful.

In preparation for Hawaii, baby, and Matt's basketball season we are going camera shopping tonight! I think we'll be looking that the Nikon D60 and the Canon Rebel xti. I have heard only good things from those that have them and don't think we can go wrong!

Tomorrow night Jeremy is playing poker with some friends and we're having a relaxing girl's night. I'm excited!

Other than that we're not up to much. Hawaii is now 2 weeks from today! I can't wait! There is one thing that comes with Hawaii that I am not happy about. That is that my grandfather, Daddy Joe, is having brain surgery for his Parkinson's disease the Monday that is in the middle of our trip.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I know that is such a scary thing to have to be awake for brain surgery! And I hate that we will not be by his side, waiting in the waiting room with the rest of the family. It will be hard to be so far away. We love him so much and would appreciate your prayers for his peace and comfort before the surgery and for the doctors to be successful in helping restore his health.

When we get back from Hawaii I will be almost 18 weeks along. We have an appointment that Monday and are hoping to schedule our exciting 20 week ultrasound for just a week or two later so that we can find out if Baby W (aka Shrimpy) is going to be a boy or a girl!

This past Friday-Sunday was our church's annual Family Camp. It is at Lakeview in Palestine and is absolutely beautiful. I need to get someone else's pictures of the actual site. It is on a small lake and is hilly and is so pretty. We mainly studied the bible, sang songs, played games, played sports, went swimming, and just hung out. It was a nice weekend without tv, driving, phones ringing, etc. We are already looking forward to next year's Family Camp!

Baby update!

Well, I had my 12 week dr appointment yesterday with Dr. Crowder (I was actually 13wks exactly). He was an hour and a half late because his partner needed his help at the hospital and some lady lost 6 pints of blood!

Anyway, once he finally got into my room he asked how I was feeling. I told him "fabulous." I really do feel wonderful compared to some of the horror stories I've heard. Sometimes I second guess the fact that I am even pregnant in the first place. But...it all becomes a little more real when we get to hear baby's heartbeat. This time it wasn't with an ultrasound but with a doppler. He found it right away! It was 148bpm this time, up from 128 at our 8 wk ultrasound. Our next appt will be at 16wks and will entail lots of bloodwork. :(

Our appointment after that will be our 20 wk ultrasound where we will find out the gender. Then the shopping will really begin!

I also started to notice my stomach sticking out all the time. I'm not used to it (I'm not saying I had a 6 pack before...by any means!) so I feel like I should always be sucking it in. I've never had it stick out like this before so it feels really weird. But it is wonderful to know that our baby is okay and is growing at a good rate! I love going to the doctor now. I think the only appointment I will dread is next month...because of all of the blood work. :( Also, it is the Monday after we get back from Hawaii. So, atleast my mind will not be on that appt until we get back and then it will be over.

We appreciate the calls checking on us and all of the prayers. I think it is so thoughtful that people remember when our appointments are and let us know that they were thinking about us and call to see how they went!
So thank you all!

Port Aransas Trip!!

The boardwalk connecting us to the beach
The beautiful ocean
Matt, Mom, me, Jeremy
Mom, Jon, Lissa
Jeremy and me at lunch
Our view while eating lunch!
Our ginormous bathroom
Uncle Jon and Lil Luke (giving him his father's day card) :)
Our view walking back from the beach to our beach house
The boys playing Rock band
A cute house for sale across the street
One of the very smallest priced around $400,000!

Sand dollars found by Jon and the boys!

We had such a wonderul trip to Port A this year! We headed out Sunday morning and came back last night. We had a great time with family playing games, swimming in the ocean, playing volleyball in the pool, going to local shops and eating delicious food! I wish we could do it more often for sure!

We looked at a few beach houses in the neighborhood where we were staying just to see if we could afford going in together on one and they were starting around 300,000 going up to over half a million...and these were the smallest ones!

I ALWAYS love going to Port A. It is about 10,000 times better than Galveston. It is clean with very little seaweed and very few people. I like it much better than South Padre, too. It seemed clear this time, as we were able to see down to our feet/knees even when we were in deep. At one point we saw a dead fish being eaten by a large crab (underwater on the sand). We also swam late a couple of days (since it was so hot in the middle of the day) and saw a fisherman catch two baby hammerheads right by us!! Very neat!

We had a great time and were sad to have to come back to work! :(

Haley's Graduation...Finally!

Magnolia High School Seniors '08 (about 600)
Over and over family and God were mentioned...I've never seen anything like it! :)
(at a graduation, I mean)

The four "Egger" kids
Haley with the folks
ALL of us...the grandparents, Mom, Lissa, Jon, Zach, Mitch, and Luke (and me, Court, Haley, and Matt of course).

This past Saturday, June 7, was Haley's Graduation and party. I took many more pics at the graduation than the graduation party. It was such a fun day and we are proud of Haley! Several people commented on how that was one of the best graduations that they had ever been to. I have to agree. It was just heartfelt and genuine thoughts and speeches from several students who spoke, the principal, board members, etc. I couldn't believe how much this school focused on making them better people, relationships, respect, God, family, etc. There was even a long slide show including pics of all of the students. It was very impressive!

And for those of you who think this place looks familiar, it is the one and only Reed Arena on the Texas A&M campus. It was just an extra bonus to get to go back to good ole CS again!

Well, we just got home from our family reunion and it is 12:36am...so I'd better go. And we are getting up and heading to Port Aransas in the morning! See y'all later this week.

Vacation is Finally Here!!

Well, we have had a very exciting week and have a very exciting week to come!

This past Saturday was Haley's Graduation and Graduation Party at the lake with about 50 of her closest friends (and family friends). We had a blast and I haven't been able to post pictures since I left my camera at my parent's house. I will post them soon, I promise!

This Saturday we're heading to Palestine for our Family Reunion and then Sunday we are leaving for Port Aransas! Yeah! We have so been looking forward to this and can't wait for a relaxing few days in the sun.

I will be sure to update with pics of all of these events when we get back!

Oh, and Matt also turned 17 on Wednesday. I can't believe it! We didn't really celebrate since we were just too tired from Haley's big graduation party. JUST KIDDING! Haha! He actually had a game that night (and made 24 points!!!) but I'm sure we'll do something for him this weekend in Port A.

This is where we'll be staying. Isn't it cute?

Timing...

Well, I have been thinking about this topic a lot lately. Some of you know the details of this story and some don't, but to me, they are very important.

In early spring of last year we began the process of getting ready to have a baby. I started trying to eat healthier, cut back on caffeine, get off of birth control (duh!), cut out MSG, etc. I was so ready! Jeremy was past ready. We got very excited. Every month after that for a year we were disappointed. Well, we really expected it to take a few months, actually, but still it seemed like many disappointments.

Let's see...I'm trying to convey my point without getting too personal (too late! But this point is to important not to address).

Basically my doctor told me early this year that I needed to get evaluated. First thing would be a blood test. Well, after 2 months of blood tests the results were basically that I was not releasing an egg therefore could not have a baby. He wanted to start me on a drug to trigger my body to release that egg.

The day we were supposed to start that medicine is actually the day that I took a pregnancy test that came up positive. The medicine had been called out and actually was at my local pharmacy. Amazing, huh?

People have said that it just helped us to get a solution, and that then we relaxed and that is why it happened. However, I believe that this timing couldn't be any more perfect for us. If you'd have told me that this time last year, I'm not sure I would've agreed. I believe that God's timing is much more perfect than our own time tables. We thought we were ready last year, but we are even more ready this year...in every way. Isn't God great? We would surely not be going to Hawaii in a little over a month together for our 5th anniversary if we'd have gotten pregnant back when we started trying...and boy do we ever need this trip?!? And, Christmas as a due date is also very special to us. Beyond those there are many, many more reasons of why this couldn't be better timed.

We didn't really make a "big struggle" or anything dramatic out to family or friends about our journey because we had faith that it would happen. Also, we know many other couples have gone thru longer and more painful journeys trying to conceive. So, if this is new to you, that is why.

We praise God for our little miracle and know that our worry and timing does not have the wisdom behind it that His does. His timing is perfect and it is so important for us to keep that in mind when we're being impatient or losing hope with our own struggles. I am SO THANKFUL that ultimately it is His decisions that shape my life and eternal salvation and not mine.

I see His hand in all of our lives all of the time. Babies, creation, relationships, feelings, emotions, animals, miracles. All of these wonderful things did not evolve from dirt! How could anyone else other than a loving God have created all of the beauty and creativity that is Life?

Timing is everything!!

Our Last Free Weekend for a LONG TIME!!

Well, this past weekend was our last weekend of freedom (unplanned events) for the next 3 weeks! We chose to spend it doing relaxing things we wanted to do!

Friday after work I went to Jess' to go take Kinley's 7 month pictures. Then, we went to Chili's later that night for dinner. After that we hung out at our house for a few hours just watching tv and such. We were all exhausted and they went home before 11.

Then, on Saturday we slept in a little bit and got stuff done around the house and then later in the afternoon met my mom and Matt at the new Silverado theater on 249. It was very nice and clean...and I was very impressed! We went to see The Strangers.

Let me just say that is was one of, if not THE scariest movie I've ever seen. Most of my family loves scary movies...and this one was a good one! Plus, it is based on a true story so it makes it even scarier. Y'all have to let me know if you see this one! I liked it but it had me just very tense the whole time!

After the movie we went to Freebirds (Y-U-M!), Star Furniture, and Houston Garden Center to get some summer plants 1/2 off!

Sunday, of course, was church, lunch, and then a pool Sunday @ Rachel's house. I LOVE pool Sundays and this was the first one of the summer. I'm looking forward to even more of them! Jess and I headed out a little early so that we could make Jeremy and Ryan's basketball game at 4pm in the Woodlands. They lost :( It was their first loss and wasn't a pretty game at all. After that we went to Los Cucos b/c Jess had a 25$ off of a 35$ gift card thing.
That is our weekend in a nutshell. It did end up being busy but it was still a fun and relaxing weekend.
Note:We usually do not eat out that much but we had a Chili's gift card and the Los Cucos one, too! :) So we only paid for about 1/2 of the eating out.

Next weekend is Haley's Graduation and Graduation Party, the following weekend is our Family Reunion, the next day we head to Port Aransas, and the next weekend is Family Camp with our church. June will be crazy busy for us, but we are so looking forward to it!
