Jake's First Trip

The back of our car! Jeremy and I packed together in the purple bag (on the right), you know the ususal clothes, pajamas, toiletries, etc. Everything else was Jake's. Stroller, pack-n-play, play mat, and tons of burp rags, diapers, wipes, bottled water, formula, bottles, changes of clothes, etc. :) My mom and Jeremy joked that now we dont' have the space for me to pack heavy anymore like I used to!

Jake borrowing Gran's sunglasses - it was too bright!

Almost (Lissa took our pic) all of us in front of the gym complex @ Baylor

list of players in the tourney (name, school, height, year, etc)

Matt getting the rebound

Baby Jake getting way into the game...oh wait, that's his bottle. He's not a very good spectator yet. ;-)

We wore him out!! This was him the entire way home.

This weekend we went to Waco, it was Jake's first overnight trip. We left Friday afternoon and got home Saturday evening. We went for 'Junior Nationals', it's an invitation only tournament for high school players. Letters are sent to their coaches and college scouts are also supposed to be there. It was held in the Baylor gyms. We had a fun trip! Gran, Lissa, Gammie, Papaw, and of course Uncle Matt were all there. Jake loves getting loved on by family and he was awesome the whole trip!

Today after Matt's third game we went to the 'famous' George's Bar. I love the Pat Green song and had heard about it but had never been there. It was soooo good! Any time we pass through Waco (which isn't very often) for anything again atleast we'll have somewhere good to stop and eat! :)

Weekend Update

Baby boy asleep on the chair in the living room after his pedi appt Thursday

Gran stayed with us Wed-Fri. We had so much fun and she was so much help!

We had a very eventful weekend! On Friday night Jake attended his first Basketball game. Matt's team (Magnolia West) played Magnolia. It was a great game, even though they ended up not winning after being ahead the whole first half. Jake did wonderful...he was asleep when we entered the gym and didn't budge when the buzzer went off or when people yelled.

Papaw feeding him his bottle

Becca snagged him for a minute! :) He's pretty irresistible!

On Saturday Jake met his cousin Kaleb and his Aunt Starr, Granny and Papa came over to visit.

On Sunday Jake attended church for the first time. He did great! We took a couple of pics before we left...

Matt's 3 on 3 B-ball Tourney...

This Saturday Matt had a 3 on 3 tournament at Magnolia High School. They played 4 games and won second in the tournament. The second place hs team played the second place men's team. The men's team they played were mostly college aged....and Matt's team beat them! It was very entertaining, as each team called their own fouls, and if you were shooting and got fouled you'd get one point. Very weird! And of course, when the winning point was because of a foul on the other team (that had been calling fouls on us all game) would say things like, "that wasn't a f*%#ing foul"or other things that made them sore losers and poor sports. It happened to everyone, and it was very entertaining. The guys played awesome and were exhausted after all those games. It made me very excited for basketball season this fall.
Note~ My camera is not so good at taking action pictures...it was a beginner camera and we plan on purchasing a more sophisticated camera whenever possible. :) Since I'm unexperienced in that area, I may soon be asking advice...

Rockin' and Rollin'...

This weekend we got a new toy...Rock Band for PS3. On Saturday we had friends over, and played for about 4 hours straight and the guys were good enough to earn us some new gigs and songs. It was really fun, but harder than I thought it'd be. It was so fun watching everyone play the drums, sing, and play the guitar. We had a few pros (Jess' sister and her husband were in town) so that made it easier since they were really good.

We are having a Superbowl party next Sunday, so I'm sure we'll play it at halftime or at the end of the game...Jeremy and I'd better practice before then!!

Here are a few outtakes from our concerts :)
NOTE: YOU NEED TO HIT PAUSE ON OUR PLAYLIST TO HEAR THE SINGING ON THESE VIDEOS

Here we were creating a rocker..it was hilarious

I think Jess should keep her day job :)

Jeremy, the lead singer in his new glasses...haha

On another note, but definitely fitting under the title of this post, here's Taylor dancing on Sunday at the Goose's Acre Irish Pub in the Woodlands. She had us cracking up! I guess she really liked the music or something. :)

Kinley was trying to get her headband off while Taylor was her dancing decoy!

Oh, yeah, Friday night we went to Matt's game at home. They played Concordia and won by a landslide. Because they were so far ahead, Matt's coach told him he could dunk it...well on the way down the court he strained his hamstring and coach took him out the rest of the game. So, I only took one pic of him...
Here he is on the bench with his leg up

Since Matt wasn't playing, I had more attention to give to Kinley :)

Family time...

We've been very busy since my last post on Thursday!! Friday after work we went to the eye doctor. Jeremy got glasses! For those of you who know us well know this has been a long time coming, and that he squints at everything! He's gotten some funny texts from friends (hey four eyes) but he's happy to finally be able to see. His vision was 50/70!! And he's gotten several congratulations just because he's received so many "Jeremy, please go to the eye doctor" comments from family and friends after watching him straining to see. So he's now officially a nerd, even though we all already knew that!! ;)
Note: I tried to take a pic of him in his glasses for this post and he said no, b/c I've already made fun of him too much...

After the eye doctor we rushed to Magnolia in the rain to ride to Brenham with my parents. We met my grandparents, aunt, sister and her friend, and uncle and three cousins at my brother's b-ball game against Brenham. It ended up being a really good and close game until the end where we pulled ahead and won. Matt had around 30 points.

I think Matt was distracted and trying to leave before missing the bus

Saturday was our Nephew Kaleb's 7th b-day party at Incredible Pizza. We rode go karts and played mini golf and had a fun time. We capped off the night playing PS3 with Shad and his gf Brittany.

Opening the four wheeler we got him

Starr and Kaleb before their go kart race

Kaleb was a sore loser :( He was so mad they lost the race...

We had a great weekend and hope everyone else did, too!!!

Matt's making the headlines...

Just wanted to give my lil brother a shout out. Today in the Magnolia Potpourri (of Houston Community Newspapers) he was on the front page of the sports section (for his mad basketball skills, of course). He was interviewed and photogaphed and it turned out to be a really neat story on him as a player and his goals for the future.

Way to go, Matt!

Now you know that we're not going to all of his games to watch him sit the bench ;)

Pretty cool if you ask me...

Weekend Happenings...

This Friday we went to another one of Matt's games...this time in Huntsville. They won 52-32, which I wasn't too happy about because I like them close!! It made for an interesting game since the refs only called about 3 fouls the whole game. It got pretty rough...but atleast they were letting things go on both sides and it was fair. Only a few games left this season, so we'll make as many as possible. Atleast we have Haley's softball season coming up!

Saturday we had the pleasure of keeping Kinley for the day. Her parents weren't feeling so well so she ran errands with us. We went to the bank, the cleaners, lunch, and grocery shopping. She was perfect and we had such a good day. After we got home from all of those places she helped Jeremy root for the aggies during their b-ball game (sshh- don't tell her daddy :)) We finally decided to give her back after that.

This is what the dogs were doing while we were holding/playing with Kinley. I think they knew we weren't paying them any attention and gave up on trying to get in the middle of everything.
