Opening all of my adorable gifts!!! :)

Well, I had my first of two showers today and it was an absolute blast. I had friends come from Austin, College Station, San Marcos, Downtown and from just down the street! Jake got so many adorable things and everything was perfect. After Jeremy saw everything he got he said, "We've got some wonderful friends!" I couldn't have said it better myself...except for maybe adding family in there, too. We got our diaper genie, pack n play, toys, books, clothes, diapers, wipes, blankets, burp rags, pacifiers, changing pad and tons of other fun stuff. I had so much fun putting everything away.

Thanks to Jess, Rachel, Leah, and Jenn (hostesses) and also all of my guests for such a magnificent day! :)

Big Changes!

Well, there have been big changes around the Worley house lately. I am happy to say that my last day of work was on Friday. I never really questioned the fact that I would stay home and raise our children, and once I got to see and feel our little guy moving around my choice was just confirmed. I want to be the one to see all of his 'firsts' and I am so thankful that our situation has worked out so well for me to stay home with him.

It was very hard to resign from work, as that has been the only job that I have had since college and this year would've made 4 years! I was treated so well there and made so many good friends. I never expected the amount of encouragement and support for my decision and was treated to a wonderful lunch and several baby gifts- including our high chair! I will miss them but know that this job is much more important to me. And they have promised if I ever need anything that I always have a job there.

I am so looking forward to the next few weeks. I have time to rest, don't have to worry about taking off for my frequent Dr visits, get to work on several projects around the house, spend time with friends and family, and did I mention sleep in? ;-)

Also coming up we have two showers and our childbirth class! I am also hoping to get Christmas shopping done before December-just in case Jake arrives early. I know that I will feel better if my house is organized and clean, his room is complete, his clothes are washed, and my Christmas shopping is done by December so that I can have those last couple of weeks to completely rest and not stress-that is if he's not here by then.

I hope everyone has a great week! (I know I will ;-) )

The cutest baby boy ever!

The sweetest little face ever ( this is one of my favorites)
Stretching with his hands behind his head (that's his elbow by his forehead)

Already pudgy

Sweet little (big) feet crossed

Profile with the cord right in front of his face

What a temper (look at that crinkled forehead and furrowed brow)! The tech was picking and prodding and we were laughing at the faces he was making! Jeremy says that he had Mama's temper.

This afternoon we had our 3D ultrasound, one day shy of 28wks. The tech kept saying how he was so cute and had such adorable and well developed features for his 'age'. She said he is so cute and he's just now beginning the filling out stage, so he'll just keep getting cuter. She was supposed to take 2 color and 6 black and white pictures and ended up taking 13 color and 17 black and white- she claimed that he was too cute not to and in the perfect position and that we should hide our films so she wouldn't get in trouble for taking so many! :)
I am so thankful he looks so healthy and CANNOT wait to hold him!

27 Week Update

Thursday I was exactly 27 weeks. My appointment was the last once a month one for me-every two weeks from here on out (every one week the last month). Also, it was my glucose tolerance test.

The orange glucola was pretty disgusting. I know that I have picky taste buds and all when it comes to liquids...but yuck! It was super sweet and I'm not a fan of orange at all. Jeremy was telling me to chug it and I was trying not to gag myself. :)

I got to the office in plenty of time and got my blood drawn- not one of my favorite things but I'm getting very used to it at this point! I got called back over an hour after I drank the glucola (supposed to do blood draw w/in one hour) and she was telling me that there weren't any open rooms so she pulled me into a room and had me standing up to take my blood! I found a way to sit in the chair so my arm would be more stable. She seemed very nervous and said, "If I don't get it the first time I'll go find someone who will." I was not encouraged by her comments and Jeremy is laughing at me as I'm closing my eyes and shuddering at what she's going to do. She then had me pump my fist forever asking if I had good veins. She kept tapping my arm and kept saying that she'd lost my vein. But, she did end up getting it the first time and everything was fine.

Next onto a clean room for Dr Crowder to come in and check up on me...

I gained 12lbs this month! OMGosh! I was a bit depressed that I'd (more than) doubled my entire weight gain for this pregnancy in a month. At my 6 month appt I had only gained 7.5lbs. But, he said my overall weight gain is still very normal. I'm not liking it though!

I told him that people have been coming up to me and saying how I was nearing the end or might be further along than I thought. I loved his response which was, "Do people EVER tell a pregnant woman that she is just right? They always say she is showing too much or too little, and might even tell her both of those things in the same day!" He said I couldn't be measuring more perfectly...the baby's on the big side of perfect but he's perfect!

We were able to schedule our 3D ultrasound for next Wed, Oct 1st and I am super excited! We also have a regular ultrasound in 4 wks... I'm very excited to see Jakey 2 times in the next month! And can't wait to meet him face to face and hold him in my arms. Less than three months until the due date now.

One Week Down

One week down and many more to go that we will have to live life without Daddy Joe. It has been a trying and amazing week. Trying to watch him suffer, and to watch his wife, kids, and grandkids have their hearts breaking as we didn't want him to suffer and will miss him so much. Amazing to see the fighter that he is. Amazing how our family has responded. Amazing to see how many loved him and admired him. Amazing how the moment he passed...his soul was gone and you could plainly see that he no longer inhabited his body.

Part of our Family (his slideshow playing to our right)

Things special to him

Golf stuff

It was so sad to say goodbye to our Daddy Joe last Sunday, Sept 14th. We will miss him so much. His funeral was a day of celebration of his life. He has lived a great life. He has so many that love him. The day of the funeral my grandmother recieved 21 cards in the mail - on that day alone! Because of Ike, we were in no hurry to get home and were able to spend the week as a family telling stories about him, laughing at things he used to do, searching through thousands of pictures for the slideshow, and making scrapbooks of all of his cards.

Please continue to pray for our family as we miss him, and thank you all for the calls, texts, plants, comments, and prayers over the last two months. I am so thankful that he was surrounded by us all, and that he is not suffering any longer.

Cruisin' to...nowhere!

Where do I begin? Last Tuesday afternoon Jess calls me at work and asks, "y'all don't have any more days off, do you?"
I said, "no...not really...why?" And she then tells me that she got an email that there is a cruise going for 99$ (leaving the next day)!!! I was like well, maybe I have a day or two! Jeremy said no way and thought that we were crazy...he had to be at work and it was too last minute. He then said that I could go with girls if I wanted to. So...I called Jess back and said that I would go. So that night I packed all of my things, then dropped them off at Jess' house on my way to work around 6:30am and then her and her two sisters picked me up around lunchtime (at work downtown) on their way down to the cruise terminal in Galveston.
After standing in line for several hours to get on the boat we were off on the famed 'Cruise to Nowhere.' Because of the hurricane earlier in the week, they were sending the ship out for a short cruise instead of the original 5 days...and there were not stops at ports. Interesting I know. I even saw it on the news the morning we were leaving and it was literally called "The cruise to nowhere."

It ended up being Jessica, me, Jennifer, and Kayla (her sisters). 4 girls in one room with 4 bunk beds and one bathroom. Interesting but we had a BLAST! We laughed so much, teased Jess about being the "boss," ate a ton, laid out by the ocean and pool, watched ice and fruit carving, went to the marriage and family game, etc. What fun!
I needed a vacation. I know that I just went to Hawaii a couple of months ago...but a lot has happened since then! It was so relaxing and I couldn't have had a better time!

So excited to get a little bit of a tan before summer's end!

My melting cake (I had it every night-it tasted like warm cake batter)

They made me do this pic because for some reason I always felt the need to run down this staircase- even though I was already on our floor. It was like I'd get near it and start going down without any purpose at all!

Me, Jennifer, Jessica, The Captain, Kayla

Kayla, me, Jess, Jennifer

Oh, and I should add that I was 6 months pregnant, Jessica was 4 mos pregnant, and Kayla was 7 mos pregnant on our trip. (We tried to convince Jennifer to jump on the bandwagon, but she's got a precious little 4 month old so she wasn't exactly convinced.) ;)

Wake Up!

Well, we spent another weekend in San Antonio. Daddy Joe has been sick lately. They first thought it was pneumonia and gave him a week's worth of antibiotics. After that didn't work, and after a week he still had fever they found that he did actually have fluid between his lungs, but that wasn't the source of his fever. So, the whole weekend we were there he was very still and didn't move near as much as we were used to. Of course, the day before we got there he had a spinal tap and a needle from his back inserted into his lungs.
Today I found out that the fever was actually being caused by an abcess on his back and it bursted today and drained and his fever is now gone! On top of that, he even opened his eyes on his own today and followed my aunt Lissa's movement too. Very exciting news and hopefully a sign that he is feeling better now.
The nurses and doctors have said that he is fighting so hard, and that many people would've given up. But we know he has a strong will, strong faith, and a strong spirit and it breaks our hearts that he is giving it his all. We are proud of all the things he has made it through, and can't wait for him to wake up!

All those cards on the wall and a whole basket too! People sure do love him.
