Pumpkin Patch!
At first we were scared it was going to be a bad day. Ha! We set him down by the pumpkins and he threw a huge fit. Basically, we've figured out that he will do things how and when he wants to. And, if you put him in a position he doesn't wanna be in, he will throw a fit or get sincerely sad. Once he's crying, he will get embarassed and duck/hide his head. Don't worry, Jakey, Mommy and Daddy have learned our lesson. We'll let you warm up to things first and pick our battles when you don't want to do something. Luckily, after one fit, you can see above that he was happy the rest of the day! :)

Light of our Lives!!
Jakey is 1/2 way between 1 1/2 and 2!! Here are just some of the little things that make him, well, him!
-He runs laps around the living room waiting for us to tickle him as he runs by. Soo precious!
-He says "don tuchhh" to us about things that he's not supposed to touch.
-He loves cars and trucks and has to have one with him at all times.
- He still says "uh oh" when he drops things, waves and says "uurrpane" when he sees one, and waves to his "dawwghhs" every morning.
-He loves babies and hugs pictures of them and says, "Awww...bebe...aww"
-When asked who he is in a picture he will usually reply "Ake!" but sometimes will reply "bebe" if he doesn't recognize himself or even "Meee!" (complete with pointing to himself) I was so impressed the first time he did that. We've not really taught him the difference between me, you, mine, etc and was impressed that he understood an old picture of Jake was "me" to him.
-He loves his Papaw and daily points at the phone and says, "Bapaw, Bapaw, Bapaw."
-The past couple of months he's started putting more words together and has even said some longer sentences. It really catches me off guard and he's put as many as four to five words together correctly into a sentence.
-He loves his "sthoes" and "sthox" and loves to take them on and off. He hates having socks on and if we put him to bed with them on they will be laying on the floor next to his bed soon after we put him in his bed. :) It's so cute to go in and check on him late at night and to see his two little socks on the floor by his bed.
-He loves being a big boy and doing things we ask of him. He likes taking things to the trash, picking up his toys, taking his toys to the playroom, and helping to dress himself.
-He has a one track mind. He will eat his favorite food on his plate first and demand more. He leaves the other things on his plate even if he likes them. If we go into a grocery store, church, a park, or anywhere else he has to have a car or truck in hand. We are obviously at the park to play on the playground, but he likes to carry his truck/car with him everywhere, whether it's up the stairs or down the slide. Yes, he loses cars and trucks all of the time.
-He loves to spin in circles to make him dizzy and fall down, climb and walk all over the furniture, etc.
-He loves "yights". Aka- lights! He loves to turn on and off light switches. Today we were at the mall w/friends and he pointed to the skylights and said, "yights outside". I thought that was pretty smart. =) How else does a one year old describe a skylight?
- He has the sweetest voice you could ever imagine. I never knew how sweet it would be to hear my baby say all of the words he says. What I love most is when he's really tired and in a daze, and he'll say, "Mommy...Daddy...Mommy...Daddy". It is the most beautiful music to my ears and makes my heart smile. I wish I could bottle it up for the future because I know it will soon be, "ughh MOM!!!" in a not-so-sweet voice. Believe me, I'm so cherishing this sweet baby voice.
-Along with his love of all vehicles, he loves driving. He says "dive dive" when he sees a car on TV, he makes "mmm mmmm" type driving noises. He loves steering wheels and says "beep beep" any time someone (usually Mommy) honks their horn. =)
-When he's in trouble and I'm having a talk with him or he's really tired and trying to keep himself awake he will point at all of my facial features. He'll usually start with "eyyyes" and move on to "nose and mouseth" after that. Then sometimes followed by ears and hair. He likes to distract me when I'm mad at him, and it's pretty cute to hear his little voice and laugh.
-He likes to look at pictures in frames and on the computer and name all of his family and friends and give the frames hugs and kisses and say, "awwhhh". I LOVE that even in old college and newlywed pics he can still pick out "Mommy". So....I haven't changed that much, right? ;) Ha!
-When we pull up to places we typically go, he can associate what we will do inside. If we pass the Coleman's neighborhood he will scream "Yaxx!" and if we pull up to Bouncin Bears he will say, "siiide". When we get on our street he will sometimes say, "home".
-When he was younger, we taught him to say "all done" when he was full. It seems that he has applied this phrase to everything but eating. When a song finishes on a CD we're listening to, he says "all done". When I close up the laptop after using it, he says "all done". When we finish reading a book, he says, "all done". Just so ya know, he rarely tells us all done when he's full.
-He's slowed down a lot in the growing department, just like the dr said he would. He's in a size 2-3T clothes, 3T-4T pajamas, and a size 9 shoe (a couple size 8's and a couple size 10's). He's tall and thinning out a bit so his clothes are seeming to last us a while at this point. Yay!!
Our boy is perfect for us and we just can't get enough of him and his sweet personality! Jakey, we love you more than life itself and are so blessed that you are our's.

Our Little Fireman
It was no surprise...I could hardly tear him off of the driver's seat! He had several turns...anytime another child approached I'd have to take him down but he kept finding his way back and asking, "dive?!!! dive?!!!"
Yesterday the Mitchell Library in The Woodlands had a Fire Safety day where kids can learn all about what to do in case of a fire. Jake was too young for most of it, but he had fun anyway! We met my friend Danette and her two boys there. They loved climbing into the truck, "driving", sitting in the back seat, checking out all of the hoses, etc. The firefighters were giving out little fireman hats, coloring sheets with instructions to "Stop, drop, roll", fireman stickers, and they provided refreshments! We had a great afternoon playing at the Library!
