9 Month Well Check

Sweet boy after his shots today!

Today Jakey had his well check with Dr Edraliln. Definitely just a tad late (3 weeks). However, he's not throwing off the stat chart because he's actually lost a half a pound since he was 8 months. He's getting longer and leaner everyday. He is so active and just amazes me at the speeds he roams this house. The doctor was very impressed with his language and motor skills.
The memories of this appointment that I will have are:
#1 The doctor asking me if he's babbling still or saying words. I told him that Jakey says Daddy clear as day sometimes. Jake then says, "Dadddyy". The doctor laughed and said, "so he's obviously speaking great!"
#2 The doctor asks if Jake is into everything. I said yes, and it sometimes drives me crazy! Jakey then pulls up on me (using only my NECKLACE...what's the point? haha) comes to a stand, lets go and stands there for a second and then comes back down and crawls toward the Dr who is also standing/sitting against the table/bed that Jakey is on. Jakey stands up in front of Dr Edralin and pulls on his shirt buttons for a while and then reaches up to touch the facial hair on his chin and stick his hand in Dr Edralin's mouth.
I think Jake did a great job of answering all of Dr Edralin's questions today!!
The doctor and nurse both said he has the power to walk (strength and coordination) but he just doesn't know it yet. Here's to hoping Jakey doesn't realize that walking is an option for a little while longer.

9 month stats:
weight: 23.4 lbs - 80th percentile

height: 29 3/4 inches - 83rd percentile

head circumfrence: 76th percentile

Jakey also was able to get the Swine Flu/H191 vaccination today (along with the polio vaccine).

Apparently he's doing everything he should be and more for this stage. We are soooo proud of our perfect baby boy!!

Our Lil Linebacker

Lately Jakey has loved pushing this lil football around the house. He chases it from room to room and it has been great at keeping him occupied. Too cute!! Maybe he really will end up being a football player, like everyone says. I think he already has the perfect build and nickname to match! We love our lil Moose!

Our Punkin's 9 Month Pics

We had Jakey's pictures made again today. He was supposed to have them made a week or two ago but he got sick. We continue to have great luck with the Picture People! I love that we get lots of outfit changes, all different poses, and even special "enhancements". This time we went with the "retro" finish on a couple of his pics that basically mutes the colors. I really like it! Jakey didn't get much of a nap in before we woke him up to go get his pictures done, and actually he did not comply very well during the session. It's amazing that you can't tell he was having a bad day at all!

I absolutely can't believe how much he changed from three months to six and now to nine. At three months he laid there, just picking up his head, at six months he sat up, and now at nine he wouldn't sit still- crawling all over everyone and pulling up on the photographer, hehe. This was our hardest portrait sitting ever!

The other funny tidbit here is that since Jakey was cranky and in a very warm outfit on the way to the pics we rode with the backseat windows down in the car. It was cool and windy outside and we thought he'd enjoy it and it'd keep him cool. The funny part is that we got to the mall and just couldn't believe his wild hair sticking up everywhere! Somehow it flattened out a little bit for the pics.

In spite of the circumstances I just don't think our Jakey can look bad. He's such a joy and I could literally just stare at these pics all day long! :) Thank goodness for adorable babies and patient photographers!

Dewberry Farm pics to come! Just not now...well after midnight. I'm tired!! :)

Friday Night Lights

Friday night we went to Magnolia to see Magnolia West (Matt's school) vs Willis. MW had not lost a game this season, so of course the game we go to they lose!! :( We still had fun with Papaw, Gammie, and Uncle Matt in the beautiful weather! We hope to make it out to another game before basketball season begins. Wohooooo!! :) The three of us just can't wait any longer for that!

I just LOVE that PRECIOUS face!!

He was such a good spectator! Sooo happy (as usual)!!

silly boy!

he loved the strings on Gammie's hoodsweater

I am daily in awe of his cuteness!

Jakey with Uncle Matt and his b-ball buddy Nick

Papaw's glasses kept him entertained half the game!

totally relaxed on Gammie

love it!

We are so thankful to be able to spend time with our family on the weekends. We always have fun, no matter what we do. We are sad that it's uncle Matt's SENIOR year. Wow. I'm NINE years OLDER than him. Time flies and that makes me feel really old!

Lil Trooper!

Jakey is one tough lil guy! Yesterday (Sunday) when Jeremy woke him up right before church he was coughing. Jeremy told me that it sounded like he had a chest cold or something. I agreed, and we decided to stay home from church. He really acted fine, just occasionally seeming to suddenly cry for seemingly no reason and occasionally pull at his ears. It was just so sad to listen to him breathe and cough. Well, today I called the doctor and they insisted that he come in because of his low grade fever yesterday (99.5) and breathing troubles.
So, we went in this morning and he was diagnosed with parainfluenza, croup, and an ear infection in both ears. She listened to him cough and to his breathing and heard a little "gurgling" but doesn't believe it's actually moved down into his lungs. She also gave us the warning signs to look out for in case it gets any worse. Glad we decided to take him in just 24 hours after the first sign of anything!
I can't believe he's hardly shown any behavioral/personality changes thru this. He's a little trooper! If he'd not wheezed or had a fever we'd never have even called the doctor. In fact, as I rocked him today he sat up, looked at me, and started clapping his hands over and over. I couldn't help but laugh at that. Then, the sick, sensitive side of him returned and started crying. I guess my laugh hurt his feelings! He's super sensitive to just about everything right now.

Anyway, he's now on antibiotics, probiotics, and ear drops. Hopefully they work quick!

We love our lil Jakey so much and this flu season is so scary! His doctor was out of the office with the swine flu, go figure!

Please pray that Jakey makes it thru his first Fall healthy with no more sickness!

9 Months (This is crazy, people!)

Okay, so....someone is going to have to start doing these posts for me or else I might have to take an anti-depressant before I continue doing these monthly posts. We're having WAY too much fun for it to be passing this quickly!

Sittin' in his new playroom (Have I ever mentioned how much I love that skin, those big hands, those pouty lips, those round cheeks and that baby soft hair?) :)

so sweet! loved his lil feet crossed!

He STILL loves that swing. His favorite thing to pull up on. He lifts a leg and tries to climb in somtimes!

Splish-Splash! Loves him some bathtime!

Jakey here's the scoop on what you've been up to this month:

-follows me from room to room on command. "Come on Jakey!" And he follows right behind me.
-pulls up on anything (cont'd from last month). People, swings, other babies, shower curtains, tv trays that fall on top of him...you know, the fun stuff!
-you have a new playroom! you love playing in there daily and can entertain yourself forever! I can talk on the phone in there, get on the laptop, or even clean your room or the bathroom and just occasionally peek in on you and you're completely entertained!
-You will be on baby food until college! (Just kidding- you just have the most insane gag reflex that I have ever seen!)
-You've refused most table foods and sippy cups we've tried so far (even the famous Nuby soft spout one)
-You give kisses and high fives on command in addition to beginning to clap
-You're starting to get great balance, standing without immediately falling and cruising from one piece of furniture to the next. You like going from the ottoman to the couch best!
-You've gone to several playdates, mostly at the park, and your first family reunion!
-You LOVE dogs more this month than any month before. You crawl over to the back door and pull up on it and stand against the glass looking for your puppy sisters!
-You know the meaning of "no" and usually stop what you're doing and turn around to look at me and then immediately find something else to do. Good boy!! :)
-You love cords, cell phones, the laptop, remote controls, doors, and anything else you can get into that you shouldn't!
- I think you've slowed down a little bit as far as growth-which is wonderful!! You're still in 12-18 month clothes, size 4 diapers (pampers), size 5 diaper (huggies), size 4-4.5 shoe, and you're now in your toddler convertible carseat. You have lots of room now!
-You still love your sleep. Yesterday you woke up for a bottle and diaper change around 9am and went back to sleep until 1pm (after having gone to bed at 10pm the night before). You are THE BEST sleeper and I'm so thankful that I get to sleep in. I'm sure our next (future) baby will not let us keep our fantastic schedule! And no, people, 1pm is not our normal... :) But 10 am sure is! :)

Basically, you are easier than I ever thought a baby could be! I love being your Mama more than I could've ever imagined and you are a dream come true! Please know that I will love you forever and will always be here for you.
xoxo,
Mommy
